Come and BEAT the HEAT Rates

Healthy Eating Amazing Taste! as the name implies HEAT Restaurant @ The EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Ortigas serves a sumptuous buffet! I was scouting for a nice place to celebrate our second anniversary we're we would enjoy an intimate dinner together.

On our shortlist of restaurants, We have Circles, Spiral and HEAT and since we live near EDSA Shangri-la, it's easy to hop in for a great dinning experience =p so we chose HEAT @ The Shangri-la.

I called in 2 weeks before our big day to make reservations for a dinner for two on Oct 28 at 8pm and I've made some arrangements for our anniversary cake as well, called my friend who happens to be a cartoonist, ask him to draw our caricature and have it designed on top of our 10" choc-o moist cake.

We were so excited on that day, and since it was a sunday, I had to go to have my spa routine afterwhich we headed to HEAT.

I had to borrow some pics from Patrick Martires so I can upload some nicer pics to show off the restaurant's interiors. There were 6 stations serving both Asian and Continental cuisines.

Let's talk about the rates

We were shocked to see our bill, it was such a steal! for 2,260.00 for a family dinner for two! (that's the net rate w/o taxes and surcharges) With all the food selection and the overflowing sweet treats (I heart their dessert station so much) I'm definitely going back to HEAT.

For those who would like to taste and have a great dinning experience @ the HEAT:

HEAT offers an international buffet served throughout the day. A constant variety and the ever-changing choices in the breakfast, lunch and dinner menu bring guests an excellent sampling of Asian and Continental dishes and desserts.

Hours
6am – 12 midnight, Sunday to Thursday (until 2am on weekends)

Today is your day... but not Erap's =p

"We are innocent."

Deposed president Joseph Estrada continued to insist on this on Tuesday, a day before the Sandiganbayan Special Division was to read its verdict on the plunder and perjury case he had been under trial for – along with Sen. Jose 'Jinggoy' Estrada and his lawyer Edward Serapio.

A few hours from now, my son will wake up from his tiny bed wearing his cute little smile and says aahh! ami, abbaa! (his own language meaning "mami, baba tayo" =p cute) and we will all be happy to greet him Happy Birthday Don Luis =) while we are busy celebrating my son's 1st birthday (to be continued on sunday para sa Big bday bash nya), the rest of the people, citizens of the Republic of the Philippines, are all ears to what the Sandiganbayan would be announing regarding Erap's verdict on his plunder case.

This day, 12th of september 2007,my son's 1st bday, will make his (ERAP's)day!!!!! mwehehehe

Dedication Dilema...

I've been thinking of which church should I have my son Luis's child dedication. I'm a member of Word of Hope Church in North Edsa and my hubby is a member of Bread from Heaven Ministries in Paranaque. We could have plan it in either of the two fellowship churches however, we have moved from Makati to Pasig early this year.

We started looking for a new church where we could call our new haven where we can grow spiritually as christians. We tried attending worship services at CCF Christ Commission Fellowship at the 5th Floor of St. Francis Square Bldg, Ortigas.

We were on our 5th time of attending this huge church (as in huge they like have 1,500 seats filled every sunday) I have decided to inquire about their child dedication schedule and requirements. Unfortunately, we cannot have Luis child dedication on that church we were told that we need to be a member of the church and needs to be in a discipleship group like a cell group before we can have Luis dedicated to God.

I was a bit upset when I hear that, Ms. Fifi saw a wry smile on my face as I ended my conversation with her. I keep on thinking for a contingency plan as we headed home I have already made reservations (reception, photo coverage, baby registry) I already bought sponsor tokens etc. I'm just about to distribute invitations in less than a week... =(

It was my bad for not prioritizing looking for a church first I was complacent that CCF will welcome my family and have my son dedication so easy eventhough we were just new at the church. I was expecting that fellow christians from other church organization are welcome and can have a privilage of having church services like child dedication as such.

I tried calling up friends, family members, pastors for help. We still have two chances there's VCF Victory Christian Fellowship in Robinson's Galleria (where tita Coney Reyes used to attend) and GCF in Ruby St. just at the back of Galleria near The Podium. I've asked Pastor Nanding Alconga if he could ask GCF about their child dedication and same thing with VCF. However, VCF also requires membership and discipleship before we can have a child dedication. I still have yet to receive a reply from Pastor Nanding but he already have told me to be ready for a membership in case we will be required as well.

I have nothing against signing up for another fellowship to begin with, I would love to be a part of them (VCF,CCF & GCF) but I also understand the fact that we need to attend a couple of cell group meetings/prayer meetings for tenureship and they are not sure if they can accomodate us on our set date which is July 28.

All I'm after right now is to pull this Dedication/Baptism event on the 28th... =(

I still have a month...but, no! I have to release the invites next week! geezz..

And I received a call from my Tita who happens to be a devoted Catholic (sarado barado kandado Katoliko -once a christian became backslider way back ninteen forgotten) "Hi Baby (she used to call me baby) san ang binyag?" I answered " la pang church mamagus" (I call herr Mamagus a term of endearment for Mother Goose=p) she replied "ay naku day, pabinyagan mo yan sa Catholic Church para di mahirapan makapasok sa school di mo yan ma-eenrol sa La Salle, Ateneo, Poveda, OB Montessori etc. basta run by friars. Naalala mo si Nicca pinabinyagan naten ulit kase di tinanggap sa school ang child dedication certificate nya?" (wow sosyalin na mga schools kayanin ko kayang magpa-aral jan? =p)I paused for a while and said "we'll see, I'll keep you posted."

We had that kind of experience with my niece who wasn't baptized in a catholic church she doesnt have any baptismal certificate. We all know that Child Dedication is different from Baptism. Why should we dedicate our children?

Answer: Because children belong to God, it is only proper and appropriate that children be dedicated back to God and

Bible Verse: Psalm 127:3 proclaims, “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.” As Christians we are called to recognize that children belong first and foremost to God and are given by grace as gifts to parents. Parents not only have the awesome responsibility of caring for this gift, but also the wonderful privilege of enjoying the gift.

The dedication of children is taught in the Bible.

Bible Verse: We are told in I Samuel 1 that Hannah presented her son Samuel to the Lord. In Luke 2:22 we read that Mary and Joseph brought their baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem in order to present him before the Lord. In the same way, parents today bring their son or daughter, presenting first themselves and then their child before the Lord our God.

Is dedicating our children considered baptism or salvation?

The dedication of your children is not a baptism, nor a sacrament of the church. Rather you, as the parents entrusted by God, are demonstrating a commitment to Him. You are commiting and seeking to do everything that is in your power, as God gives you wisdom, to see that your children grow up to respect and honor God and to love and serve Jesus Christ. This “setting apart” is an act, by you the parents, a powerful declaration of your acknowledgement of your stewardship over God’s children.

The Dedication Ceremony is not the salvation of your children, but a public expression of the fact they belong to God. It is also viewed as a confirmation between you and the church to partner in raising your children in a godly way until they are old enough to make their own decision in accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

I start checking school websites looking for their admission requirements….. Viola!!!!! We need a baptismal certificate. Right! So meaning I had to do a Catholic baptism and a Child Dedication after all I just need the paper. Period.
(no offense to all the Catholic believers I also respect your faith I was exposed to a non-sectarian school from grade school to college and I perfectly understand each other's preferences on how you would want to express your faith in God)

So here I am lamenting on what to do… I could just boycott those catholic schools (again, pls excuse me)and not have my son enroll to them. On the second thought, why not do it in double ceremonies so as to avoid any future hassle in enrollment???

I have come to a rational decision with the consent of my husband to have the baptism on the 28th at St. Francis of Assisi in Shaw Blvd, Mandaluyong (church beside Shangri-la Mall and Lourdes School) and proceed with the original plan for an intrinsic baptism celebration with all those balloons, novelty cake, fancy cupcakes etc…

Come 1st Sunday of August, we’ll have the child dedication at my home church Word of Hope Church, North Edsa, Quezon City and it will be a simple family affair with no elaborate dining.

Laugh your hearts out…a birthday treat

We’ve watched the last live performance of Rock da’ Vote last Saturday night at the Music Museum in Greenhills Theatre Mall. We got up early coz we need to go to Tektite Tower to do an ocular at the penthouse for Luis’s 1st birthday party venue. We we’re at the penthouse around 4pm and we find the façade and the lobby nice (astig ang dating !) however, the venue itself looks so gloomy maybe because of the low ceiling (at ang amoy …maalimoog! Hehe) so we we’re still on the look out for possible venue.

From Tektite Tower, we headed to Greenhills (this is our firs time together) and since we’ve arrived three hours earlier for the show, we went malling just to kill the time. I bought toys from Toy Kingdom for my little rascal a musical turtle and a stack rings best for infants 6 months onwards. We had our dinner at the Promenade in Wonton Resto (as the name suggests it’s a Chinese restaurant no doubt about it =p) I like their Fried spareribs in salt and pepper, spicy shrimps in schezuan sauce (talap talap!) plus
overflowing young chow fried rice that would satisfy your gastronomic appetite

We we’re one of those early birds we wanted to avoid those long lines before we can sit ourselves inside the theatre so we fall in line early and we waited until the
organizers opened the entrance to the guests. The show started 830…and it’s 30 minutes late (haaayyy Filipino time as usual!) but everything was great! The acts were all funny the show lasted for 2 ½ hours but there were never a dull moment.

The actors we’re able to convey their message, which is in time for the coming May elections…. There is a REPEAT performance on May 5, 11 and 12 the last three performances of this year’s Rock da’ Vote.

Trip 2 Pedia

I had to bring my son to his pedia last friday due to cough and colds. Sam and I have decided to skip work that day.
This is our first visit at the New Medical City, looking at the façade of the newly built hospital, I can’t help but ogle this massive structure occupying 1.5 hectare property along Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City. It carries a contemporary architectural design composed of two towers joined by a podium and bridgeways, this 15 storey high rise bldg has hotel-like interiors and specially designed waiting areas for comfort, a big and spacious emergency room, gardens in and around the building complex for a soothing environment and has a homey ambiance. (para kang nasa mall ang saya!)
Other non-medical amenities within the complex are available to all visitors, patients, and staff. They have the ff:
· Chapel
· Pancake House
· Salon/ GYM
· Starbucks
· Banks/ ATMs
· Convenience Store
· Auditorium
· Food Court
Health Insurances satellite offices like Medicard, EA Phils, Fortune et all has a nice and cozy space. There are escalators installed around the premises as an alternative to the traditional staircases and there are 16 elevators in full swing plus dedicated elevators for nursing floors, service elevators, and elevators servicing only from basement parking to ground floor.
Nweis, going back to the original topic, my son weighs less for his age (magaan daw baby ko 7.7 lbs dapat daw at least nasa 8.+++ daw for his age na 7 months) although he seems to be an active baby but he can’t finish an 8 oz milk in one sitting which is the normal intake of a 7 month old. And at his age he should be able to finish half a bowl of solid food eh he can’t even finish a spoonful of cerelac =( haaayyy panu kaya tataba baby ko???

Asap Live presents Rock Da Vote

It’s bigger, better, and, best of all, it’s back. Rock da Vote, the live political comedy theater event that has made hilarious fun out of the insanity of every election year, returns for its newest edition this 2007 with an important new partner: ABS-CBN’s Sunday variety show Asap.

Asap Live will be producing the 2007 edition of Rock da Vote, which will feature top stand-up comedy stars Jon Santos, Candy Pangilinan, Pooh, John Lapus and special guest Chokoleit and Tessie Tomas.

Considering that these are the top tier of today’s comedians expect a lot of impressions and caricature of the names most recently in the headlines. Jon Santos will bring on his unforgettable impressions of Vilma Santos, Korina Sanchez, James Yap’s alleged mistress Hope and Imelda Marcos. Candy Pangilinan will impersonate Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Miriam Defensor Santiago. John Lapus gets under the skin of such personalities as Madame Auring, Cory Aquino and Kris Aquino. How new standup star Pooh will, of course, get jokes out of Manny Pacquiao’s current political ambitions. Chokoleit gets to show the funny side of Erap Estrada and Bro. Mike Velarde. And Tessie Tomas revisits her legendary “Meldita” character for several sketches, as well as showing Rock da Vote audiences her impression of Mel Tiangco.

Joel Mercado is Rock da Vote’s head writer.

Rock da Vote will run at the Music Museum on two consecutive Fridays and Saturdays. Tessie Tomas will be the special guest in the April 13 and 14 shows, while Chokoleit will be the special guest on April 20 and 21. Tickets are available at all TicketWorld outlets, as well as through the TicketWorld hotline 891-9999.

On its 15th year, with new editions created for every election year, the Philippines’ best-known live comedy show Rock da Vote is showing no signs of growing older because it gets its comedy mojo fresh from the headlines. What with family drama, new Comelec rules, and controversial new figures making their way into the political arena, expect to see cutting-edge political satire yet again from the country’s top standup comedians.

This time, however, it’s set to be even bigger, with ABS-CBN’s trademark polish behind the entire event.

Performance dates: April 13 - 14; April 20 - 21
Venue: Music Museum, Greenhills, San Juan
Tickets are available at all TicketWorld outlets, as well as through the TicketWorld hotline 891-9999.

My comment:

This is socially relevant specially election is coming in two months time. Manonood kame ni hubby ko nyan! I'm so excited na nga eh I'll post another entry after we've seen it.

While you were chatting...

So why am I writing right now? I would like to tell everyone about a story of infidelity…another victim laments as she shares her piece.

The story is about he-who-thinks-he's-d-man and his officemate educated biyach are flirting around. Yes all the gossips and issues about them before were all true. So let me digest how it happened I remember one time he-who-thinks-he's-d-man went home so frustrated co'z he told Furious Cat Owl that there was an issue with him and his new friend which involves Ms.Educated Biyach, a technical writer in an I.T. company who just broke up with her Bf and is from Laguna. And the issue? Educated Biyach is flirting with he-who-thinks-he's-d-man and people from their company are saying "ay ang cheap naman ni Educated Biyach pumapatol sa may asawa."

This flirting issue has been going on since 2006. They met in this I.T. company in Paseo, located at the 39th Floor, became friends turned constant companion (taking their coffee breaks and lunch together) they would patiently wait for each other so they can go to work together every morning and would come home from work together as well. (Fyi,Educated Biyach lives near he-who-thinks-he's-d-man's place just across his Condo in Dela Rosa to be exact) This has transpired for over a year now and he-who-thinks-he's-d-man is very vocal about their friendship.

At home, they would exchange text messages up until night. Educated Biyach would let
he-who-thinks-he's-d-man knows her whereabouts, what she is doing, how she is feeling that day, etc. The Furious Cat Owl find it weird because Educated Biyach is sending text messages of some sort of a wake up text to he-who-thinks-he's-d-man in the morning and a goodnight text at night(let's say he-who-thinks-he's-d-man is her first text and last text of the day... sweet huh?) and this flirting continues until the Furious Cat Owl gave birth. To her surprise he-who-thinks-he's-d-man revealed to Furious Cat Owl that Ms. Educated Biyach opened up about her feelings towards him and that they should stop what they are doing because she's falling for he-who-thinks-he's-d-man. (Are you guys getting a clearer picture of what's happening?)

The Furious Cat Owl had enough. She asked he-who-thinks-he's-d-man to end his nonsense flirting issue because he has a family and that Educated Biyach is in a relationship during that time. And He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man promised to stop. The Furious Cat Owl thought she have made herself clear but she was wrong. Last Easter Sunday, 8th of April the Furious Cat Owl caught them exchanging messages online (through YM) again while she was just at his back working on her laptop.(maybe he-who-thinks-he's-d-man have forgotten that Furious Cat Owl is farsighted =p)

I would like to give an emphasis on this message from He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man and Educated Biyach's conversation:

He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man: “psst nasa likod ko wife ko ha, wholesome muna tayo”
Educated Biyach: “oks”
(So what do they mean about being wholesome "muna"? are they not wholesome when they are together? and why did Educated Biyach answered oks? do they have an understanding that they need to be wholesome so they won't be caught off guard? I'll leave that up to you to think of what they are doing) they have been communicating religiously yet they claim that they are just friends (sounds so showbiz).

I couldn't understand why Educated Biyach would enter in such complicated situation while she knows from the very start that He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man is married with a son. Despite knowing that the Furious Cat Owl is aware of their relationship (and she knows how the Furious Cat Owl hated her for being a home wrecker) she still chose to be in the same old rut she is in since 2006.

End of the story....

My comment:

Why would Educated biyach allow herself to become He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man's other woman? I thought she is educated? ooppss... I forgot she is a biyach herself *evil laughs*

But I don’t think that the Furious Cat Owl will take this sitting down for she have kept silent for quite sometime and now she would like to let everyone knows how Educated Biyach is behaving. The Furious Cat Owl have a family to fight for and she will not allow Educated Biyach to ruin her family. The Furious Cat Owl already have given her an ample time to correct any misbehavior but she did not do anything The Furious Cat Owl have dealt with this issue at home with He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man and she acknowledge the fact that he is at fault too. (But even though a man would pursue a woman if she is SANE enough she won't make herself become the other woman) Thanks to He-who-thinks-he's-d-Man honesty he had the courage to admit everything. (kahit papano ipinagtapat nya ang lahat)

So what now? You poor silly Educated Biyach? Yes you idiot, aren’t you ashamed of what you are doing? you have just added yourself to the growing number of other women here on earth. Not to mention the humiliation you’ve created as you jump in to this so called “flirting?” Huh? you have just dragged your name into shame. And after this, your name will be infamous! - Sotnas Enelrahs … mwehehehe

Welcome aboard!

me, my sam and our son...

Whew! my 2nd post. I chose to share this to everyone....the arrival of our little bundle of joy Luis Antonio Carpio-Alhambra. Our cute little angel was born last September 12, 2006 at exactly 12:05 am in San Juan de Dios Hospital, Pasay City.

Baby Luis was born weighing only 5.14 lbs (2.65K) relatively smaller compare to any newborn baby you can see at the nursery room. He was a premie, premature born lacking 10 days to be considered as a full term. He was only 35 weeks and 4 days when I delivered him through vacuum extraction (normal delivery)

9am sept 11, 2006 and I was scheduled for a weekly check-up so my hubby and I went to see my OB. Just like any ordinary check-up day there is a long line of pregnant women waiting for their turn so I keep my cool and patiently waited for my turn it was already 12nn when I entered the room and we found out that I'm about to deliver the same day (I was already 4-5cm that time)

I was admitted the same day around 1pm. I had to make a couple of phone calls to tell everybody that I'm about to give birth and that I need my things to be brought to the hospital. I was in my room at around 2pm we were already hungry since it was past lunchtime but I was not allowed to eat and I was told that I will be brought to the labor room. When I was already inside the labor room, that was the longest 8hours of my life waiting for my baby luis to come.... from 3pm-6pm I was wearing fetal monitor and my bp was also being monitored because I was diagnosed to have a pre-eclampsia case (bp was rising from 130/100, 140/100 to 150/100) It was to my surprise when I was already inside the labor room, my bp went down to 120/80 which is a normal bp for me.

At exactly 6pm, I was given a medicine trhough my IV to induce labor. I was brought to the delivery room around 11:35pm (sa wakas....8-9cm na fully dilated na daw sabi ni dra yey!!! Image) luis came out after 30mins of pushing (di ko cya ma-ire kase bangag ako sa epidural feeling ko na-todo ko na ang ire eeewwww) my OB decided to have a vacuum extraction because luis does'nt want to come out (bumabalik cya sa loob hehehe lalabas sandali ulo nya tapos papasok ulet haha! ang kulet ng anak ko Image )

I was mesmerize to see my son and at the same time I was so amazed to see the little creature that was once inside my tummy moving, kicking and gigling.... giving birth is such a great experience and it's worth the wait kahit kinalyo na ang likod mo sa sobrang tgal mo sa labor roomImage

My first... (but definitely wont be the last)

This isnt new for me. I know alot of people creating their own space ans finally I'am writing my first ever blog entry =) I just came from a not so likable work environment that deprives me of having a chance to say my piece and share it with you. Looking back, I spent my two years and 3months doing a job that I never enjoyed since day one.... I was stuck in a rut. I felt like I was a square peg on a round hole (sobbs) I know I don't fit in that kind of environment not to mention the many don'ts (no internet access, no tagalog emails, no toggling, no over lunch/over breaks, no sleeping in your stations etc..) we were bound by many rules (I hate rules hehehe=p) and hypocrites!!! - especially those who loves making people crazy!

I felt my blood rushing up my veins in anger whenever I try to go back to those days.... But at last! the dark ages was over............. =)

I call them hyenas. Their are wandering in the wild that they are not afraid of taking on animals much larger than themselves! (kapal!) I hate those hyenas who feed on the remains of those poor animals....

as I start a new phase of my life I formally open my blog to everyone...meet me and my world...have a taste of my history... my journey...my story...yeeeehaaa!!!
